Meet John “Tater” Harris
Candidate for Baldwin County Commissioner, District 4
I am a hardworking business owner, community leader, and longtime Baldwin County resident running to represent District 4 on the Baldwin County Commission. With a passion for public service and a deep commitment to Baldwin County’s future, I am stepping up to bring common-sense leadership, responsible growth, and real results to county government.
Having lived in Baldwin County for the past 14 years, Tater understands what matters most to the people who call this place home — from the beaches to the rural heart of the county. As the Owner and Operator of Gulf Coast Rental Co., he’s built a successful small business that supports tourism, provides year-round equipment and storage solutions, and creates local jobs. That experience gives him a boots-on-the-ground perspective on growth, regulation, infrastructure, and what it takes to thrive in Baldwin County.
A Proven Community Leader
Tater’s commitment to Baldwin County extends beyond business. He currently serves as:
- Chairman of the Orange Beach Public Safety Committee
- Board Member of the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber
- 2025 Co-Chair of the American Heart Association’s “Art for Heart” Gala (with his wife)
- Executive Leadership Team Member for the American Heart Association for the past three years
Whether it’s through charity, public service, or mentoring others, I always believed in giving back.
“Baldwin County is growing fast, and that growth has to work for the people who live here — not just those moving in. We need leadership that listens, protects our values, and knows how to get things done.”
Real-World Experience
Tater brings hands-on experience in project management, budgeting, and construction — with professional credentials like OSHA 510, peer recognition, and a history of managing multimillion-dollar construction projects. He was also previously certified as a Construction Manager (CCM).
His campaign is focused on:
